Getting Started with KnowPitch

What's needed: KnowPitch app + wired headsets 

Bluetooth adds too much delay, so a wired headset is required.  

It’s important that your voice is the loudest thing that KnowPitch hears. While earbuds are fine for singing on your own, you probably need a boom mic near to your mouth when singing with others or in a noisy environment.  We have identified as a few affordable headsets that work well.  Many cost less than $10.

• While users experience an enhanced awareness of their voice’s pitch, we have no reason to suspect that the effect is in any way related to “perfect pitch.”

Singers struggling with intonation require (a bit of) gentle coaching

• With a voice coach, KnowPitch is fun to try. 

• Weak singers

  • Tend to sing a lot of wrong notes, and , wrong notes sound awful to others

  • But unlike others, weak singers principally hear those notes' overtones in your formant, 

  • and those particular overtones sound great to them.

  • but others hear different and discordant note

  • KnowPitch enables them to immediately hear their notes correctly..

• Hearing "wrong notes" is the first step to singing better.

  • With KnowPitch, a coach can quickly teach users to adjust their intonation

  • And easily develop competence .  

• Without a coach, weak singers can't recognize the (often immediate and dramatic) improvements on their own

  • And weak singers can easily find the experience of trying it without a coach very frustrating.  

• Weak singers should not try KnowPitch without a coach
